Interesting fact

The history of the house dates back to 1883, when it was rebuilt after the flood as the Inn for the Three Kings, then transformed, operated as an actor's house and became a cult place for Szeged theatre.

The name of the Burger House is also associated with a significant memory of Hungarian gastronomic history: here, in the printing house of Zsigmond Burger, the influential cookbook of Aunt Rézi, aka Terézia Dolesko, was printed, which became one of the defining works of Hungarian gastronomic literature.

Aunt Rézi's Szeged recipes combined the sophistication of bourgeois cuisine and the richness of the flavors of the Southern Great Plain. Her book was not only a collection of recipes, but also an imprint of the way of life of an era in which hospitality, care and the love of food played a central role.

The mission of Bistorant is to carry this legacy forward: we respectfully turn to the values of the past, while creating new gastronomic experiences with a modern perspective, fresh ingredients and a creative approach. We believe that every era adds its own chapter to this story. With respect for the past and the creativity of the present, we continue to write the gastronomic history of the Burger House – now on the plates.
